Obama’s trip to Vietnam was a success from May 23 to May 25, 2016, with a joint statement released on Monday, in which Vietnam and The U.S. were committed to working together to advance the comprehensive partnership they established in 2013 in various fields.

HANOI, 23 May- U.S. President Barack Obama announced on Monday that Washington will fully lift an embargo on sales of lethal arms to Vietnam, underlining warming relations between the former foes amid rising tensions with Beijing over the East Vietnam Sea.

Low-cost carrier Vietjet closed Monday an enormous order of 100 aircraft with American planemaker Boeing, one of the first deals signed during U.S. President Barack Obama’s ongoing trip to Vietnam.

The historic US$11.3 billion order was signed by Vietjet president and CEO Nguyen Thi Phương Thao and Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner.

The order includes 100 737 MAX 200 airplanes, the largest-ever single commercial airplane purchase in Vietnam’s aviation industry, according to Vietjet.

Also on Monday morning, Vietjet signed another agreement with Pratt & Whitney of United Technologies Corp.

Over the supply of aircraft engines to power the airline’s order of aircraft A320NEO and A321NEO, as well as technical and maintenance services for the fleet.

The signature of the $3.04 billion deal was also witnessed by President Obama and President Quang.

The Vietjet-Boeing pact is one of the first deals between a Vietnamese and American company to be clinched on the Vietnam trip of President Obama, who arrived in Hanoi on Sunday night.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and General Electric (GE) in Hanoi signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the development of renewable energy in Vietnam.

Hanoi — The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and General Electric (GE) yesterday in Hanoi signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the development of renewable energy in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the two parties aimed to develop a minimum of 1,000MW of new wind farms by 2025.The farms are expected to ensure energy to approximately 1.8 million Vietnamese homes. GE Vietnam currently employs more than 900 people and offers products and services in the power, energy connections, renewable energy, oil and gas healthcare and aviation sectors.

The visit of  The President Obama to Vietnam in 2016 was a huge success for both countries. Due to this visit, bilateral relations U.S-Vietnam will develop on a new level.
